What is an Enrolled Agent?

Enrolled agents are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and have unlimited representation rights befor the Internal Revenue Service.  Enrolled agents are authorized to advise, represent, and prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and any entities with tax-reporting requirements.

What is the difference between an Enrolled Agent and other tax professionals?

Only enrolled agents are required to demonstrate to the Internal Revenue Service their competence in all areas of taxation, representation and ethics before they are awarded unlimited representation rights to represent taxpayers before Internal Revenue Service. Unlike attorneys and CPAs, who are state-licensed and who may or may not choose to specialize in taxes, all enrolled agents specialize in taxation.  Other tax preparers will have limited representation rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.

What should a new client know about us?

Email is the preferred method of communication as it can be answered discreetly before, during, or after work hours without anyone overhearing any of the personal information that may be requested or asked.

Second, please be prompt in getting any requested documents to us.  The goal is to gather all of your documents and submit them together.  There are many clients to work with and the clients with all requested documents submitted will be handled before clients with outstanding items.  We will provide a reminder but please take responsibility in following through and getting the requested documents to us in a timely manner.

Why do you request for new clients?

For all new clients, I request a copy of the prior year’s federal and state return (if applicable) and all tax documents for the current year along with the tax questionnaire.

So when do I need to file my return?

If you are expected to owe, you will want to file your taxes by Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in order to avoid any penalties.  If you are expecting a refund, you can file your taxes any time throughout the year but within three years of the original tax due date in order to still receive your refund.

What’s the earliest I can have my taxes filed?

As soon as you receive all of your tax documents, you can file your tax return however, the IRS will not begin accepting returns until a specified date.

Why should I file my taxes electronically?

The main reason for filing taxes electronically (e-filing) is to get your refund faster. Twenty-four hours after sending your tax return, the IRS will send you a confirmation of receipt or a rejection notice. Generally, e-filing is safer and faster than filing on paper, which could take up to 12 weeks to process manually.

What if I receive another tax form after I’ve filed my return?

If we have already e-filed or mailed your return, you will want to complete an amended return.  Additional fees will apply.

How much are your fees?

Our standard fees start at $140 for a 1040EZ, which is the only return that does not include audit protection. Our fees may seem slightly more expensive at first but keep in mind our pricing includes all fees, including audit protection and assistance and identity theft restoration. There are no additional filing fees!  We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Debit Cards, and cash.

When do I pay for services?

Payment is due at the time services are rendered.  Just like most companies, you are required to pay at the time you receive services. Therefore, when you are sent the E-File Authorization, payment is required before filing your return.  If an agreement is canceled prior to the submission of your return, you are still required to pay for the work that has already been performed.

Can you complete my tax return at my house?

While that may be convenient for you, for security purposes it is essential that I prepare taxes at my office on a secured network so that no one can access my computer.  The main goal is to protect you and your family’s information from unwanted intruders and public or unsecured networks can leave your sensitive information vulnerable to intruders.

What are your hours?

The best time to reach us is from 9am to 11am and 5pm to 10pm.  Of course, we can be reached via email at any anytime.
